Department of Montana

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Cassie Johnson. I have been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 2015. My grandfather, father and husband are all veterans. I have two beautiful daughters that have graduated high school and are finding their own way. Both are also members of the ALA.
My first role in the ALA was District 1 president. I then became my unit's president. My entire family is active one way or another with helping veterans. Right now, my husband Lonnie, is the Department Commander for the VFW, so we both are very busy. We both still work full time jobs and also have a business that we run.

Jackie was born in Livingston and raised in Fromberg MT on her family's ranch with 2 brothers and 1 sister. She married Mark in 1987, after his enlistment in 1986. They spent 2 years stationed in Ft. Hood TX before transferring to Aschaffenburg, Germany for 3 1/2 years. Upon return to Billings, Jackie and Mark had their son Jeremy. Jackie has lived in Livingston since 1991. She has served as President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer for Unit 23 and President of District 7.

I am excited for this new adventure of being the Department 1 st Vice President for this
coming year! My name is Leona Somerfeld, I am a member of Mills Paulus Unit 103 in
Power since 1997, I joined under my husband, David’s, service.
We have three grown sons and seven grandchildren who are all part of the Legion
family. We farm, ranch and have a trucking business on the prairies off the foothills of
the Rocky Mountains.
When not doing agriculture duties, I have a cake and catering business (I celebrated my
52nd year Anniversary doing my cake business this year) as you can see, I don’t give up
on anything very often.
I belong to many community organizations, and I like to get things done. I will work hard
for the Auxiliary organization and programs.
