On June 15, 1876, LTC George Armstrong Custer left the Powder River Supply Depot at the confluence with the Yellowstone River about 7 miles west of present day Terry, MT. He had met with COL Reno and General Terry on board the Far West steamboat prior to departure. American Legion Post #32 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #32 of Terry, MT, members donated bird feeder seed to residents of the VA facility in Miles City MT. Many of the current residents keep a bird feeder outside their window or seed is scattered on the large outer window sills. This provides much discussion and enjoyment of the number of birds they see and different times of the day and year.

During Veterans Day, the Terry School District puts on an annual program and parade for the Veterans. Each class provides readings, songs or patriotic honors. The American Legion Post #32 provides the honor guard. Following the program, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #32 provides treats for the students. Prairie Post #32 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #32 in Terry MT have a beautiful Veterans Park on Logan Ave (main street). All are welcome to come and sit for a little while for some peace and quiet. The ALA recently planted a shade tree with the help from the Post; a ALA member keeps the tree watered and seasonal flowers watered and weeded. Also, an ALA member and her niece freshly painted the cinder block wall with added eagle, flag and nice inscription.

Prairie Post #32 in Terry, part of the Powder River District #10, held a flag disposal ceremony at the Terry Public Schools on October 29th with the ALA Unit #32 assisting. The Post helped the 6th graders retire the school's old flag and replaced it with a new one. Members of the 4th, 5th, & 6th grades each carried a flag to the fire for disposal. On Saturday, September 12th, American Legion Post 130 and ALA Unit 130 held their annual BBQ and Rummage Sale. Another successful year! Thanks to all the vendors, silent auction donors and volunteers who helped with the rummage sale, BBQ, silent auction, and raffle tickets. Simms, Montana held the annual Valley Fun Days on Saturday, August 8th. The event starts the day off with a pancake breakfast that is always a great turnout. This year Post 130 decided to decorate a trailer for the parade and it was a hit. The Valley Fun Days committee asked for us to lead the parade next year. Hello, I hope everybody has had a good summer and surviving the heat. Hard to believe how fast this year is going, almost time for district meetings and fall conference. Remember our fall conference is Oct 3rd in Helena, and we will have our meeting at Helena’s post 3095 Villard Ave. The meeting will begin at 9am.
