Dear Posts, Units, and Squadrons,

Each year, Montana American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State provide young leaders from every corner of our state the opportunity to experience hands-on government, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong confidence in civic engagement. These programs continue to stand among the most impactful youth leadership experiences offered in Montana—but they are only possible because of the unwavering support of our Posts, Units, and Squadrons.

As we look ahead to the 2026 sessions, we have set an ambitious and important goal: to host at a minimum, 100 Boys State delegates and 100 Girls State delegates. Achieving this benchmark will strengthen our programs, broaden statewide participation, and ensure we continue shaping the next generation of Montana leaders. To make this possible, we remain committed to keeping the program fee as low as $300 per delegate and, most importantly, ensuring that no family is ever asked to pay out of pocket.

Your sponsorship is what allows us to uphold this mission. Every $300 sponsorship directly covers housing, meals, materials, campus services, and instructional programming that would otherwise place a far greater financial burden on the students and their families. By stepping up to sponsor a delegate (or several), your Post, Unit, or Squadron helps guarantee that a student’s opportunity to attend is never determined by their family’s financial situation only by their willingness to learn and lead.

Enclosed is the 2026 Boys State & Girls State Sponsorship Form for your Post, Unit, or Squadron. We respectfully ask that you review it, determine how many delegates you can sponsor this year, and return the form with payment no later than May 1, 2026.

Your continued support ensures that Montana youth, whether from our largest cities or our most rural communities, have access to this life-changing experience.
