August 2025
Dear District Presidents,
Welcome to the finishing up of our 2025 Auxiliary year and beginning of our new year! We need to hit the ground running and get back to basics to have a successful year with all we do for the veterans, military, children, and communities. My theme this year is “Montana Treasures Copper, Silver, Gold and Veterans”. My project is the Grace Haven for female vets and Grace Home for male vets, tran-sitioning back in society. Let’s have a great and productive year!
We had a good Department Convention in Helena, it was an honor to have our National President Trish Ward attend. At the joint banquet, President Trish drew the winner of our 2000 Ford Mustang convertible raffle. The winner was Renee Oliphant from Helena, she is also a member of Border Unit 73. We made about $20K for the general fund with all your help selling the tickets!
Our officers are Leona Somerfeld, President; Jackie Gangstad, 1st Vice President; Trisha McKinney, 2nd Nice President; Kari Hould Treasurer and Chaplain; and Leila Seyfert, Secretary. We have a good group, be patient we are all learning new things.
We need to be sending Treasurer Bonds, Donations, Poppy Orders etc. to the Department Secretary Leila Seyfert, Box 867 Glasgow, MT 59230. mla.mt.sec@gmail.com Leila’s office hours are 4pm to 8pm. Please send everything to Glasgow, the old address is no longer valid.
The Treasurer’s Bonds are due Sept. 1 for the Districts and Units, $7.00 each, forms are in the packets or you can print one off our website.
Dues notices will be sent out soon, remember you can pay online, through ALAMIS, or mail to your membership chairman. Let’s get our memberships in so we can concentrate on our programs.
The packets are not complete, some problems occurred with 2026 Membership Cards, please check your cards, if you have another unit’s cards please call Leila and let her know. It would be appreciated if you could send them to the correct unit.
The new Rosters, Book of Reports and Plan of Action will be available at the District meetings. The first Fall District meetings start Sept. 6. I won’t be there, my Jersey is getting married that day. Family is always first.
The National Convention is taking place in Tampa, Florida on August 22, we have a dedicated delegation going. I am not able to attend between harvest and the wedding.
The SAL is hosting a softball tournament on Sept. 5th, 6th, and 7th in Helena. The Auxiliary is doing the ticket gate and the 50/50. There are 16 teams and 50/50’s for each game, that means we need help selling tickets. The gate money is going to the Dept. General Fund and the 50/50 proceeds will go to the Girls State program. No games will be played after dark. If you can help Kathy Long with the 50/50 any
of those days we would appreciate your help, please contact her at 406-945-4211 or
