Dear ALA Members,
Fall is knocking on our doors, that means we have Fall District meetings upon us.
9/6 District 9-Melstone; 9/7 District 11-Laurel; 9/13 District 10-Baker; 9/14 District 1-Poplar; 9/20 District 7-White Sulphur Springs; 9/21 District 6-Townsend; 9/27 District 4-Kalispell; 9/28 District 5-Missoula; 10/4 District 2-Havre; 10/11 District 8-Dutton; 10/11 District 3-Conrad. I am unable to attend Sept, 6 and 7 and Oct 4. If your District cannot get a quorum, it is pointless for our officers to travel those distances and not have anyone show up for a meeting.
Our National Convention is in Tampa, FL, we are sending four auxiliary members to represent our department. They will be putting their reports on our website and in the Service Star. The Service Star is being paid for by our membership, it comes out every month, we pay an annual fee of $2500, so lets get a bang for our buck.
The American Legion SAL are hosting a 16 team, 32 game softball tournament on Sept. 5th, 6th, and 7th in Helena. The Dept. of MT Auxiliary will receive the money from the gate will go to the general fund and 50/50 proceeds to Girls State. We need help with the 50/50, if anyone can help any of those days please contact Kathy Long at 406-945-4211. All games will be played during daylight.
Our Website is being updated by our Public Relations and Historian, Candace Gehring, check it out. Newsletters, rosters, meetings, I think it will be another place to get and put information out. For example, we have the picture and article about our Mustang Convertible Raffle winner posted. Reorganization here we come. Send pictures and articles to mtala.candice@gmail.com This is a continuing work in progress, if you have ideas please share.
Onto housekeeping… Please make note of this, it will make everyone’s life easier.
**** Dept. Secretary Leila Seyfert is PO BOX 867 Glasgow, MT 59230.
****Make all checks out to ALA MT with a donation sheet
****Send all Poppy orders and Poppy funds to the Dept. Secretary
****Now a personal observation, I am so proud to be your Dept. President, but I am not accustomed to asking and begging more than once to get something done. I will tell you and so will anyone who has worked with me, I will never ask anyone to do something I am not willing or prepared to do. But as adults we need to take responsibility and follow through or nothing will be accomplished, we can do better.
Enclosed is an explanation of ALA MIS, it is $20 per year, with the money sent to the Dept. Secretary, make sure you write in the memo ALA MIS. As far as I can find, only Credit or Debit cards are accepted. Remember, if your Unit or District gets a card, please be aware of the pitfalls, talk to your banks.
Sept 1- Labor Day
