From ALA Unit 32

We had 25 plus people attend a RMD (required minimum distributions) seminar.  This evening’s event was sponsored by Edward Jones Investments from Glendive hosted by American Legion Post #32 and ALA Unit #32.  Because having an IRA or other interest-bearing accounts, these monies offer giving opportunities to local 501c3 entities.  That moves the federal tax portion of the money from being sent to the IRS, but instead to charities from the local area; keeping your money working in your community.

The American Legion Post #32 and ALA Unit #32 will be having a flag disposal ceremony at the Terry Schools.  The Post and school kids will be involved in the ceremony at the outdoor basketball court of the school buildings.  Start time is 12:30 on October 29th.  The flag’s ashes are then buried out at the cemetery, and the grommets are used in a recycle effort from a local knife maker.  He gives back to the community by donating knives for ALA Unit #32 fund raising raffles.

ALA Unit #32 is hosting a craft fair Nov 7th & 8th at the American Legion Hall.  Table space for the crafters is a fund-raising event for the Unit to do local activities for Veterans and their families.

The Terry Schools organize a Veterans Day parade down main street and stop at the Veterans Park.  Once at the park, students sing patriotic songs, provide readings and honor our local Veterans.  The Post Honor Guard provides a salute at the closing ceremony.  After the outdoor program is finished, the ALA provides a juice box and Krispie treats to students and students at hear.

On December 12th, American Legion Post #32 and ALA Unit #32 provide chili and large snack trays for the annual Army-Navy Football game at the American Legion Club.  Lots of cheering and ribbing going on and fun times for all.  After the game is finished, the annual Christmas Party takes place.  More snacks and a complimentary beverage are enjoyed before the music starts.  During and after the dance, more food is available for all to enjoy.
